The Summer
Journal Entry: Sun Jul 8, 2007, 11:54 AM
My birthday is coming up on Tuesday and I really don't care. I'll be 19. Yay. I got a job at the YMCA's Camp Grieder running around with little kids and keeping them entertained. I get paid about 2 bucks an hour and I have absolutely no time to do anything else during the weekdays but I'm pretty sure thats why I did this in the first place. Too much idleness on my part has been the trend of past summers and I tend to catch cabin fever rather easily. This way I actually appreciate the days I do have off. I've been talking about music a lot with a few friends who have the mind set to actually create it rather than me who has always fancied himself a musician but never really let fly and just did it. One of these days this summer my friends an I will get together for the purpose of helping me over this rather gigantic hump, something I desperately need. Its a very harsh frustration when one can't really express themselves the way they want to. On the note of photography and this website, I realize I haven't really posted any pictures since China which was back in January. There really isn't much here to spark my interest enough for me to take my camera anywhere. I might start taking it with me around to the regular places I tend to hang out and try stuff there. Also, I'm going to London next January so that should spark something. I wonder if anyone reads this. Probably not considering the coverage someone like me gets on this website. I think I'm going to find a new website for my pictures to try to get...I don't know, more attention? That sounds incredibly juvenile, but when it comes down to it thats the truth. Yeah, I'll do that.
I'm glad I wrote this.
Now heres a song.
Bottom of the World by Tom Waits
My daddy told me, lookin back,
The best friend you'll have is a railroad track
So when I was 13 said, I'm rollin' my own
And I'm leavin' Missouri and I'm never comin' home
And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world.
Satchel Puddin' and Lord God Mose
Sitting by the fire with a busted nose
That fresh egg yeller is too damn rare
But the white part is perfect for slickin' down your hair
And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world.
Blackjack Ruby and Nimrod Cain
The moon's the color of a coffee stain
jesse Frank and Birdy Joe Hoaks
But who is the king of all these folks?
And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world.
Well I dined last night with Scarface Ron
On Telapia fish cakes and fried black swan
Razorweed onion and peacock squirrel
And I dreamed all night about a beautiful girl
And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world.
Well God's green hair is where I slept last
He balanced a diamond on a blade of grass
Now I woke me up with a cardinal bird
And when I wanna talk
He hangs on every word
And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
